Organic Store Bought Pouches

Pouches are just simple. They make on-the-go just so much easier. I prefer to make my own but lets be honest here…sometimes we just want something that doesn’t require thinking or making a mess in the kitchen. So lets start with some organic options that my kids like.

  • First one on the list is White Leaf Provisions

    • Why Do I LOVE them so much?! Well I actually reached out to the company and they replied. What a wonderful company and they have beautiful standards that are so important to me as a mom. Here are my questions with there answers:

Are you clean label certified? Yes!

Are your pouches tested for heavy metals? Do you have EU standards?

We routinely test our entire line for heavy metals and have since inception. We are also Clean Label Certified and Certified Glyphosate Residue Free. Heavy metals are a cause that is very important to many parents, and in fact one of the reasons why our Founders created White Leaf! You can find the information and a note from our founders here: https://www.whiteleafprovision.com/blogs/lifestyle/the-problem-with-heavy-metals-the-white-leaf-difference

And check out Bobby Parish recommending us as a safe and vetted option (also an amazing quick lesson on heavy metals as a food system issue)! https://www.instagram.com/p/Ci0fmZWAKR-/?hl=en

As I mentioned, we test the entire line of apple sauce and baby food for heavy metals including arsenic, lead, and cadmium. Our latest round of tests revealed that our products fall even far below the proposed limits by the FDA. Furthermore, we source most of our ingredients from EU farms that follow European Union standards, these are much stronger than those proposed by the FDA and among the strictest in the world. We never use rice or fruit juices, which were found to be the highest-risk ingredients.

What material are the pouches made out of?

Our pouches are made from multi-layer films produced without the use of BPA or phthalates. Our packaging is BPA, BPS, BP, and BPF as well as Phthalate free. The outer layers are polyethylene blends designed for durability and printability. The middle layer is a bonded aluminum layer for moisture and vapor impermeability. The inner layer (the only layer that touches the food) is bonded virgin food-grade polyethylene. The food cannot contact the middle aluminum layer.

  • Second on the list is Once Upon A Farm. I mean they are organic AND do heavy metal testing. It doesn’t get better than this! They are clean label certified and I have never seen a preservative yet in there food or pouches. I also like the fact that the pouches don’t have any weird metal or aluminum lining, they are just plastic which is easier to detoxthann the metal ones.

I hope the information above helps make it easier to know what to look at when choosing pouches for your children! These are easy options but if you would like to save money and make your own, check out my “make your own” page.
